Multiple Data Files – Same ABN
We often get the question from clients – what happens if we run multiple data files in MYOB or Xero, all containing payroll information.
This is very common for Franchisees that have a number of different locations, all trading under the same name and ABN.
The answer … no problem – you can create a separate EMPDUPE.A01 file for each data file and submit to the ATO separately. The ATO will add these together for purposes of the consolidated reporting position for your business.
And a little tip in relation to monthly IAS statements
Did you know that you can apply to have different reporting numbers with the ATO so you can submit separate IAS statements for your multiple locations? This tends to make much more sense when you have different data files for your accounting software.
We can arrange this on your behalf here at CloudCounting.
I’ve lodged the SAME PAYG summary to the ATO … Twice !!
This happened for a client of ours recently. The ATO uses real people (imagine!) to process the PAYG summaries and the issue was picked up by this person. The client was phoned by the ATO and the issue was corrected.
As soon as you identify the issue, do call the ATO straight away to report the problem.
