Please note that the below advice is relevant to MYOB v19.x only. With the new version (v2014.x), transactions from previous years are always viewable.
I had a call from a new client yesterday asking if we could assist with a MYOB roll forward financial year problem. They had rolled forward the financial year but after the roll forward completed they were unable to view any transactions from the previous financial year.
This is a common problem that is missed by many MYOB users. When you go to File | Start a New Year | Start a New Financial Year, you then have to move through a series of screens with questions. We accept all of these defaults until you get to the sixth screen and see the highlighted question below.
By default the answer to “Keep Closed Transactions from Prior Financial Years” is unticked. We ALWAYS tick this box and select the last two financial years.
What this does is to keep transactions from previous years viewable. They are still read only as you cannot delete or edit the transactions with a date that is prior to the beginning of your financial year.
If you have already rolled forward and are just noticing this problem now, unfortunately the issue cannot be fixed, unless you revert to a backup and roll forward again. Any data you have entered since the roll forward would have to be entered in again.
