Have you ever tried to edit a payroll category but when you click on the payroll category zoom arrow you get the following message “There are other users accessing this file”.
And it is driving you crazy because you ARE the only user in the file!
It is likely one of the two following scenarios apply to you:
1. You are accessing MYOB v19 through a dropbox folder. For some strange reason (and only sometimes), MYOB confuses dropbox and thinks that there are other users in the file even though there are not. The only workaround we have found under this scenario is to copy the MYOB file (you can find the location in Accounts | Company Data Auditor) and then paste it to another folder on your hard drive. You can then open the file from the alternate directory and make your payroll category changes, then copy the file back to dropbox when you are done.
2. You are using MYOB Premier v19 and other users have not logged out properly, or their username has become locked/frozen. To fix this problem, go to the folder location where your data file is stored, and look for *.flk files. If you see one, delete it (as this will free up that user logon). Then log back on to MYOB and try again, you should now be able to modify your payroll categories.
Good luck!
