The biggest, best XeroCon ever – 2,300 delegates full of energy and enthusiasm for Xero and the Xero Ecosystem. It felt different this year too – Xero left us in no doubt that they were prepared to treat their partners to the best that money could buy. The entertainment, food, and closing gala dinner were top notch. We were certainly impressed and there was no doubt we received value for money.
The keynote content was amusing, inspiring and most importantly, different! The staff at Xero put a lot of thought into the sessions put on the main stage. We learned from a monk how to channel our energy into positive outcomes, how trust influences our view of the internet, and what life was like living in the Antarctic.
As usual, Xero is 100% focussed on putting tools in the hands of bookkeepers and accountants to automate our procedures and assist us in providing a first class experience for our small business owners. We are really looking forward to Xero HQ, the new e-invoice, and the advances that are put in place over the next year as auto-coding improves consistency of bookkeeping.
My main takeaways from the conference were as follows:
- Its not the what its the why. We are really clear on our why. We want to put time back in our small business clients day. We want to empower our small business owners to bookkeep for themselves. And most importantly, we want them to have fun while they are doing it.
- Artificial intelligence is going to replace traditional bookkeeping and tax compliance work. If we don’t reinvent ourselves as educators, trainers, cloud integrators, and business intelligence analysts, our industry will march on and leave us behind. We feel really positive about this change at CloudCounting as we want to put these tools in the hands of our business owners and implement and guide them in this process.
- Our business becomes a success when we have no place in it any longer. This is a journey and a process, and we need to be focussed on the end goal, which is a brand that stands independent of the founder and a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I’ve got a lot of work to accomplish this goal as we are very early on in this process.
Thanks Xero – its been a blast. See you in 2017!
