I was out on a consult this week where the client wanted to put in place a warehouse distribution system that would make their Gen Y mobile sales force happy. They were very motivated to roll out the tablets and smart phones and use apps to allow their salespersons to generate sales orders that would upload to the accounting software and use other tech tools around the inventory process.
They want a sophisticated, dashboard reporting tool that will do a segmented reporting based on multiple criteria.
They are currently using MYOB v19.9 and wondered if this was the right software for them. After a quick discussion, I could see that Xero would be a better fit in this situation. I have recommended a combination of Xero, Unleashed and Quick Win Development for reporting. The cost can add up when you use more than one solution as each product will have a monthly subscription fee, but the client still considers this very reasonable compared to the option of moving to a ERP system.
